Step 2:  Book an appointment

Use VicRoads online booking system

Call VicRoads on 13 11 71

Or visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre

If you want to change your appointment you will need to pay an additional appointment fee. The learner permit knowledge test fee can be transferred to a new time (or refunded if the test is cancelled) if at least 24 hours notice is given.  Failure to provide at least 24 hours notice will result in you forfeiting your appointment and test fees. No refund will be provided.

Step 1:  Prepare for the learner permit test

To prepare for the learner permit knowledge test you need to study the most recent edition of the Road to Solo Driving handbook. Make sure you study the entire handbook, as the questions in the learner permit knowledge test are based on all four chapters.

Take the online practice test to help you prepare for the leaner permit knowledge test.

The learner permit knowledge test checks that you understand the road rules and your responsibilities as a driver. When you successfully pass the learner permit knowledge test, you can be issued with a learner permit.
